Try this: RDP into your computer, turn on “Let Windows manage my default printer” (I use that setting), then start a print job. Prevent windows 10 from changing the default printer Press Windows + I to open Settings Window. Click the Devices category and then the Printers & scanners page. I use RDP to connect to my Windows 10 NAS, my default printer is a network printer, it’s not the first one on the list, and it doesn’t change. To set your default printer in Windows 10: Open the Settings app (Win+I). I already have the “Let Windows manage my default printer” option turned off. I think it’s a bug in Windows 10 with RDP. It resets to the first printer (alphabetically in the port name) in the list, which is a Zebra label printer and it really messes things up. ![]() If I remote in to it, my default printer gets reset. Click on printer then click Open queue or Manage and the Gray bar, Open queue and Manage buttons move down to the next printer. To change this, head to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and uncheck the Let Windows manage my default printer option. I have a very irritating situation with my computer. ![]()
